Speech enhancement with improved a posteriori SNR computation

چکیده
In speech enhancement, the decision-directed (DD) approach to compute the a priori SNR is often used to reduce the musical tones. However, the constant DD weighting factor very close to one results in more speech distortion during transitional speech segments. Contrarily, a time-varying weighting factor gives less speech distortion but with more residual noise in speech pause. In this contribution we present a new a posteriori SNR computation to relax the dependence on the decision-directed weighting factor. By computing the a posteriori SNR with a timevarying weighting factor, we actually derive a correction factor to the time-varying DDweighting factor resulting in less speech distortion during transitions, as well as less residual noise in speech pause.

Speech Enhancement Using Gaussian Mixture Models, Explicit Bayesian Estimation and Wiener Filtering
Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) of power spectral densities of speech and noise are used with explicit Bayesian estimations in Wiener filtering of noisy speech. No assumption is made on the nature or stationarity of the noise. No voice activity detection (VAD) or any other means is employed to estimate the input SNR. The GMM mean vectors are used to form sets of over-determined system of equatio...
متن کاملSingle-Channel Speech Enhancement Using Critical-Band Rate Scale Based Improved Multi-Band Spectral Subtraction
This paper addresses the problem of single-channel speech enhancement in the adverse environment. The critical-band rate scale based on improved multi-band spectral subtraction is investigated in this study for enhancement of single-channel speech. In this work, the whole speech spectrum is divided into different non-uniformly spaced frequency bands in accordance with the critical-band rate sca...
متن کاملSpeech enhancement based on novel two-step a priori SNR estimators
A widely used method to determine the a priori SNR from noisy speech is the decision directed (DD) approach, but the a priori SNR follows the a posteriori SNR with a delay of one frame in speech frames. As a consequence, the performance of the noise reduction system degrades. In order to overcome this artifact, we propose three computationally simple and efficient two-step methods based on the ...
متن کاملAn improved (Auto: I, LSP: T) constrained iterative speech enhancement for colored noise environments
In this correspondence we illustrate how the (Auto:I, LSP:T) constrained iterative speech enhancement algorithm can be extended to provide improved performance in colored noise environments. The modified algorithm, referred to here as noise adaptive (Auto:I, LSP:T), operates on subbanded signal components in which the terminating iteration is adjusted based on the a posteriori estimate of the s...
